Our CSA box has again wielded numerous heirloom tomatoes of the most beautiful kind. I don’t even car that much for tomatoes. The flyer we get with the haul suggested making a lot of bruschetta, I thought no. With my newly made sourdough bread, I made some pepperjack grilled cheese while David blended up some gazpacho. Unfortunately fr the both of us, he took my advice when I said, “No, five cloves of garlic will be good!” I mean, and it was…
Five tomatoes, 75% of a cucumber, garlic, olive oil, red wine, salt, pepper, and maybe some white distilled vinegar – voila! Gazpacho on the fly.
It was pretty amazing how the cumber made this chilled tomato concoction so crisp and bright. it was definitely not something I would have considered on my own (I never said I was a whiz of a cook). What was a poor idea was all of that garlic. Teeth brushing certainly didn’t rid the taste for me. In fact, I had a dream about how bad my breath stank. And I could still taste it the next day. Luckily, Listerine is a fantastic product.
